Honest Beauty Luminizing Powder | Review

Honest Beauty Luminizing Powder | Review

Highlighter is one of my favorite makeup items, coming in at a close third behind mascara and concealer. It adds a fun bit of sparkle when the light hits it just right. This Luminizing Powder from Honest Beauty is so beautiful. It is perfect for a lighter “no makeup” glow.

Pictured above is the shade Ivory, to add a highlight to the high points of your face, such as your cheekbones, your nose, or your cupid’s bow. Honest Beauty also sells Peach for an all over peachy glow, and Bronze to warm up the hollows of your cheeks.

Not only is this super fine luminizing powder is perfect for a low key glow, it’s also made without harmful ingredients such as parabens, paraffins, silicones, talc, petrolatum, mineral oil, or synthetic fragrances.

Ingredients

Mica, Silica, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Lauroyl Lysine, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Tocopherol, Hectorite, Sodium Dehydroacetate. May Contain +/-: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491/77492/77499)

This is the first Honest Beauty product that I’ve tried. Let me know in the comments what I should try next.

The Honest Co. Bubble Bath | Review

The Honest Co. Bubble Bath | Review

Some times all you need to relax is toasty soak in the tub. I always enjoy some essential oil scented salts in my bath, and adding bubbles makes it even better. A lot of organic bath products are quite pricey. I love getting my bath and body supplies from The Honest Co. because they are inexpensive yet I know they will be made from safe ingredients and they will smell divine.

Honest’s Bubble Bath comes in four scents: Sweet orange Vanilla, Dreamy Lavender, Apricot Kiss, and Fragrance-Free. I have tried each of these scents in many of their body care products and I can report that they are all lovely.

For the purpose of a relaxing bath, I selected Dreamy Lavender for my bubbles. It’s awesome. It smells wonderful, It feels wonderful, and the bubbles last for a decent amount of time. If I had a complaint, it would be that the bottle isn’t big enough. If Honest had an option to buy a larger size, I would probably order that one next time.

What are your bath and/or relaxation must haves? Please share with everyone in the comments below.

Vapour Illusionist Concealer

Vapour Illusionist Concealer

Vapour Organic Beauty is a higher end brand focused on simple, beautiful, and high-quality makeup products. No chemicals or synthetic ingredients are used. Their products are made with 100% natural, 70% organic and 30% mineral ingredients.

Ingredients

Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Organic Cera Alba (Beeswax) Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil Silica Mica Tocopherol (Non GMO Vitamin E – Soy) Solanum Lycopersicon (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract Wildcrafted Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Gum Oil Canarium Luzonicum (Elemi) Gum Nonvolatiles Wildcrafted Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Gum Organic Ocimum Sanctum (Tulsi/Holy Basil) Leaf Extract Organic Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus) Leaf Extract Pogostemon Cablin Oil [+/-: Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499)]

Personally, I don’t like the feeling of a lot of face makeup. Most days I’ll dab on a bit of concealer where ever it’s needed and set it with a light powder. Vapour’s Illusionist Concealer is so creamy and blendable. Being in a twist tube makes it so easy to apply. Just swipe it on and blend it out. My skin gets oily throughout the day so setting this concealer with powder helps a lot to keep it in place.

They have a great range of colors fair to dark. I submitted a selfie to Vapour’s free shade consultation page. The feedback was for me to try the shade 015. It just barely works for my skin. I think next time I order an item of face makeup from Vapour I’m going to go down a shade.

I am really happy with this concealer. It’s not heavy and it applies like a dream. What are your favorite organic/non-toxic concealers? Have you ever tried Vapour? If so, what do you love most from them? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Mother Dirt Probiotic Skin and Hair Care | Review

Mother Dirt Probiotic Skin and Hair Care | Review

Probiotics are becoming more and more popular in diet and health practices. Recently brands have been adding probiotics to their beauty products. Mother Dirt was created with the intent of keeping your external microbiome happy and healthy. There are four products available for skin and hair care: a probiotic mist, a shampoo, a foam cleanser, and an oil moisturizer. They come in bottles that are TSA approved so you can easily pack it in a carry on case for a flight. Even though the packages are small, a surprising amount of product is jammed in there. Each bottle lasted a lot longer than I anticipated.

All of the products are unscented, are hypoallergenic, and score very well by the Environmental Working Group.

The shampoo is very gentle… almost too gentle. It felt great when using it but my hair became greasy quickly throughout the day. I could not skip a day of washing my hair. I missed having a (naturally) scented shampoo. Mother Dirt doesn’t sell a conditioner to go along with their shampoo. On their website, it says a lot of people didn’t need one. My rat’s nest was still in desperate needed one so I chose The Honest Co. Conditioner.

The foam cleanser can be used for the face and body. It is so gentle, yet very effective. My skin didn’t feel stripped after cleansing, but it still removed my makeup. It even did a decent job taking off waterproof mascara! But again, I missed a pretty scent.

The moisturizer had a strange texture. It didn’t feel oily or greasy. It had more of a slippery texture, almost silicone like. The packaging for this one needs some work. It leaked a lot and often the oil would splatter or squirt when I would pump it out of the bottle.

AO+ Mist is a live probiotic spray. You can mist it anywhere on your body to replenish good bacteria. This mist is perfect… not so heavy that it leaves large droplets, but not so fine that you have to spray it a thousand times before you feel anything.

All in all, I wasn’t as impressed as I’d hoped to be. Even though the mist is slightly pricier than I’d prefer, I really liked the texture so I would repurchase it. I also liked the gentle cleanser and might pick that one up again. The oil cleanser and shampoo didn’t wow me. However, I am glad I tried Mother Dirt. My eyes were opened to this trend. I look forward to seeing what the natural beauty community comes up with next using pro and prebiotics.

What are your favorite good bug supporting products? Please share with everyone in the comments!

Mineral Fusion Confetti Nail Trio | Review

Mineral Fusion Confetti Nail Trio | Review

Mineral Fusion is a great brand for healthy beauty. Not only are they healthy, they are also cruelty-free, and give back to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. So all around, choosing Mineral Fusion is good for many.

You can find just about any beauty products you could need ranging from makeup to body, skin, and hair care, to nail polish. Because of my obsession with nail polish, I decided to introduce myself to Mineral fusions with this nail trio.

“Throw kindness around like confetti”

I great quote to live by. It also is fitting for this trio because Mineral Fusion has named this the “Confetti Nail Kit”.

From left to right:

“Shimmering Shale”, a pink glitter top coat. This is a great glitter not only because it’s so pretty, it also stays put! With a few coats, you can easily build up opacity without causing all of the flecks of glitter to go slipping and sliding all over the place.

“Dazzling Diamonds”, a sheer white with holographic pink shimmer. I’m not a fan of sheer polishes but this would go great as an interesting effect to layer over more opaque colors.

“Berried Gem”, a semi-sheer, shimmery berry pink. Two or three coats will make this beautiful, sparkly pink opaque.

These three shades are so beautiful and are joined on Mineral Fusion’s website by so many other shades just as beautiful. They are all vegan, and 5 free (Formaldehyde, Camphor, TPHP, DBP, Toluene).

What are your favorite healthier nail products? Please share your must haves in the comments!
