KL Polish | Review

KL Polish | Review

About a year ago KathleenLights, a very successful beauty youtuber, launched her very own nail polish brand. It always makes me so happy when a youtuber or blogger is able to grow their platform and create things that they love for their viewers or readers to love as well. Kathleen did just this, creating KL Polish.

It is a USA made, cruelty-free, and 5-free (made without formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, dibutyl phthalate, and toluene) brand. They also qualify as both 7-free (without ethyl tosylamide and xylene) and 9-free (free of parabens and acetone).

Each season a hand full of new colors are released. They create nothing but beautiful and perfectly on trend nail polishes. The formula is perfection! It goes on smooth and is easily built up to be opaque in two coats. The brush shape is wide, so you only need a couple of swipes to fully cover your nail. The matte, rubberized lid make the bottles easy to open.

I can’t find anything to criticise about KL Polish, and I am so happy for Kathleen and her success.

Do you have any of Kathleen’s products? What do you think of them? Tell all about it in the comments.

Why You Will Love Zoya

Why You Will Love Zoya

Pictured above from 2016-17 Holiday Mystery Box:

Nail polish on the left: Naked Manicure base and top coat, along with the lavender perfector.

Middle of the top row: Remove Plus Nail polish remover, and two Lipsticks in the shades Paisley and Jasmine.

Nail polish on the right: Alicia, Debbie, and Olivera.

Bottom row: Qtica Solid Gold Cuticle Oil Gel, Qtica Intense Lip Therapy Balm.

Art of Beauty is the parent brand of Qtica, Naked Manicure, Smart Spa, and Zoya. Each is focused on providing the beauty world with beautiful, quality products that are safe for us to use and safe for the rest of the planet as well. My focus here today is on their nail polishes from Zoya.

The nail polishes are 10 free (free of formaldehydeformaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, camphor, TPHP, parabens, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, and lead) and have very very short ingredients lists. They are also scored well by EWG.

More often than not nail polish last for two days maximum on my nails – the full procedure… base coat, top coat… the whole shebang – before is chips or peels off. I can get almost a whole week out of a manicure using Zoya polishes! For base and top coats, I switch back and forth between their Anchor and Armor, and the Naked Manicure base and top coats. I don’t notice much of a difference between them as far as effectiveness. Naked Manicure has added ingredients for nail strengthening.

One of my favorite thing about shopping on their website is their opacity rating. Each nail polish is scored 1 to 5 (1 being sheer and 5 being opaque). It makes it so much easier to be sure you know what you’re ordering. I prefer to purchase polishes scored at a 5. That way I know it won’t be streaky.

The best part is all of the beautiful colors! They add a new range of colors seasonally to their collection of 300+. Zoya never fails at providing the most beautiful shades. If you only wear certain shades or tones you can filter your search on their website to find what you love the most.

$10 a bottle can add up pretty quickly. Several times a year Zoya has BOGO sales that offer you 25 to 50% off your order. I always make my purchases during these sale periods. One of their handful of sales celebrates Earth Day. If you have nail polish that you want to toss, it can be mailed to Zoya to be disposed of safely as toxic waste.

I can’t think of a single reason not to love Zoya. The products they make are high quality, beautiful, effective, and long lasting. They are an environmentally conscious and health conscious company, and you can always get a great discount if you shop the sales.

I’d love to know what are your favorite shades/products from Zoya, and what other non-toxic nail brands do you love? Let me know in the comments!

Liz 🙂

Zoya Naked Manicure Mini Pro Kit | Review

Zoya Naked Manicure Mini Pro Kit | Review

Zoya, my favorite nail brand sells more than just pretty colors. They have a line just for those who prefer a natural manicure. The Naked Manicure line corrects and improves the color of your nails, and with regular use can actually improve the health of your nails.

I generally prefer pretty colors on my nails, so I didn’t see myself being a regular user of this line. I decided to get the half size bottles rather than the full size. Who actually goes through a full bottle of nail polish anyway. With the Mini Pro Kit, you get the whole collection in smaller bottles for a price that is a bit easier to chew on.

Even though I only reach for this every so often, it’s something I’m really glad to have. I do often use the base and top coats with regular nail polish and they work just as well as Zoya’s regular base and top coats.

The range of nude tints gives you the freedom to create any “correction” you’d like. The purple cancels out yellow spots and the nude colors are used to brighten, cool, or warm the hue of your natural nail color. Any of the five tints can be used individually or layered to create your desired look.

The white tip perfector is just what it sounds like. It creates a healthy looking french tip without looking fake and chunky like acrylic nails. Instead, the sheer wash of white leaves your nails looking healthy.

The naked manicure polishes can be bought individually as well as in kits. Zoya has a couple of smaller kits of just three or four bottles. One marketed for women and even one marketed for men. Personally, I think it’s great that they’ve created a product for men.

In the comments I’d love to know, do you prefer natural nails or colorful nails?

Mineral Fusion Confetti Nail Trio | Review

Mineral Fusion Confetti Nail Trio | Review

Mineral Fusion is a great brand for healthy beauty. Not only are they healthy, they are also cruelty-free, and give back to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. So all around, choosing Mineral Fusion is good for many.

You can find just about any beauty products you could need ranging from makeup to body, skin, and hair care, to nail polish. Because of my obsession with nail polish, I decided to introduce myself to Mineral fusions with this nail trio.

“Throw kindness around like confetti”

I great quote to live by. It also is fitting for this trio because Mineral Fusion has named this the “Confetti Nail Kit”.

From left to right:

“Shimmering Shale”, a pink glitter top coat. This is a great glitter not only because it’s so pretty, it also stays put! With a few coats, you can easily build up opacity without causing all of the flecks of glitter to go slipping and sliding all over the place.

“Dazzling Diamonds”, a sheer white with holographic pink shimmer. I’m not a fan of sheer polishes but this would go great as an interesting effect to layer over more opaque colors.

“Berried Gem”, a semi-sheer, shimmery berry pink. Two or three coats will make this beautiful, sparkly pink opaque.

3 Coats

4 Coats

These three shades are so beautiful and are joined on Mineral Fusion’s website by so many other shades just as beautiful. They are all vegan, and 5 free (Formaldehyde, Camphor, TPHP, DBP, Toluene).

What are your favorite healthier nail products? Please share your must haves in the comments!

Deborah Lippmann She Drives Me Crazy | Review

Deborah Lippmann She Drives Me Crazy | Review

Deborah Lippmann is a brand loved by many. I know a lot of you are quite partial to their nail polishes. They have many beautiful shades available, and they are a healthier option to reach for.

The shade that I have pictured above is called She Drives Me Crazy. It is a very pretty teal color. Two coats are all you need to make it opaque.

Unfortunately, a lot of Deborah Lippmann’s other products don’t fare too well with EWG’s rating system but they scored this nail polish at a 2. That makes me pretty happy!

Do you use Deborah Lippmann nail polishes? What is your go-to color?
