Bella Mari Blemish Concealer Stick | Review

Bella Mari Blemish Concealer Stick | Review

Rather than doing a full foundation routine, I feel more comfortable dabbing a bit of concealer on my spots and panda eyes. Plus it’s a lot simpler to do. One of my first priorities when detoxing my products was to find a good, inexpensive, organic concealer. And here she is! Bella Mari Blemish Concealer.

At a drugstore price, it feels like a high-end product. It conceals redness as well as darkness. The texture is thick, and creamy, yet very blendable. It works into the skin with ease and rarely gets cakey. I find it easiest to blend with my fingertips. From the slightly dewy, creamy finish a light dusting of powder helps to set it and keep it in place for the day. The compact packaging makes it great for small storage space as well as being travel or purse friendly.

The ingredients are in fact organic and wildcraft and score a lovely 1 from EWG. With several antibacterial essential oils, it is made to help heal acne spots while hiding them for the day.

I am glad I stumbled upon this in an Amazon search! When I run out I expect I will be repurchasing it.

Have you found any organic concealers that are to die for? Please tell me about them in the comments!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara | Review

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara | Review

For several years I have been hearing all over the internet how amazing Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara is. I have been tempted many times to fork over the $23 for the lengthening effect this mascara provides, but I held myself back. I knew that I would hardly use it because it is not a waterproof mascara. When I saw Kandee Johnson’s promo video for the new waterproof formula I could physically feel the excitement in the pit of my stomach. I knew I had to try it! By some miracle, I received a sample in a subscription box.

Since I haven’t used the original formula I can’t compare the two. But I can say that I’ve enjoyed the waterproof just about as much as everyone said they enjoyed the original. It gives my lashes incredible length and volume. It is buildable and does not get too clumpy. My one complaint is that it’s not quite as waterproof or smudge proof as I’d like. It smudges just a bit (as do many other mascaras on me). I would, however, definitely buy this in a full size! I really like it, and for me, smudging is just part of my day when I wear mascara, regardless.

Another reason for my liking this mascara so much is because it scores a 2 from EWG’s Skin Deep database! It’s not very often that a mainstream, trendy beauty product is low in unhealthy ingredients.

If you like shopping online as much as I do, don’t forget to shop using Ebates to receive cash back. (At the time of writing) you can receive 3% cash back shopping at Too Faced through Ebates.

I am really happy with the way my lashes look using Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. A score of a 2 from EWG makes me very happy! If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. It’s great!

Do you prefer regular or waterproof mascaras? What are some of your favorites? I’d love to learn what you like in the comments!

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Foundation | Review

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Foundation | Review

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques is a great company for natural and organic makeup and skin care. I have reviewed and enjoyed several of their products in the past (eye products and facial cleanser). This trio of a foundation, concealer, and powder work very well together. An amazing option that they offer at Lauren Brooke it the ease of buying samples of nearly every product they sell. (That is what I have pictured on this post.) The samples are filled with plenty of products to get a feel for what formula you might like and what color works best.

The Cream Foundation comes in many shades and tones but seems to be slightly catered to fairer complexions. It has a buttery smooth texture that blends nicely. A dewy finish is left. To mattify that, I like to use Lauren Brook’s Finishing Powder. It leaves my skin just matte enough without getting to scally or cakey looking.

When needed the Cream Concealer covers spots and redness very well. For undereye darkness, I was pleasantly surprised by the Luminous Eyes Corrective Concealer. I’d never used a color correcting concealer before. The finishing powder sets both of these concealers just as well as the foundation.

Each of these is made with 100% natural vitamins, minerals, and pigments, as well as 97% to 100% certified organic botanical bases.

I wouldn’t recommend the cream products to someone with overly oily skin, but I would recommend the powder to someone with dryer skin, struggling to find a good one.

I look forward to purchasing full sizes of all of these. They would be a great addition to a winter makeup routine!

What are you favorite natural foundations/concealers/powders? I’d love to learn about them in the comments!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Mascara | Review

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Mascara | Review

I haven’t posted about many mainstream brands in quite a while. But when one has a product that is both health friendly and amazing quality, how can I not write about it!?

Not all, but many of Tarte’s products are low on the EWG rating scale. Both of these mascaras fall into that safer group.

I prefer mascaras that are waterproof so I favor Lights, Camera, Splashes over Lights, Camera, Lashes. Both have fibers to help extend the lashes and create a long, voluminous, false lash effect. They work! I love the effect they give my lashes. More often I reach for the waterproof version because it dries faster and stays put longer.

To my surprise Splashes and Lashes do not rate the same on EWG’s Skin Deep Database. My favorite, Splashes, has a score of 2 and Lashes scores a 4! I wonder why there is such a difference?

What are your favorite Tarte products? Please share your must haves in the comments.

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Eye Makeup

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Eye Makeup

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques is a great brand for affordable, healthy beauty products. A few months ago I reviewed one of their skin care sets that I really enjoyed. Their products are made from high quality, organic ingredients and are infused with many nourishing vitamins and minerals.

My favorite makeup item is mascara. I feel like I look a bit more alive and put together when I wear it. I like my mascara to be noticeably lengthening and volumizing. I also like it to be water and smudge proof.

If you like more subtle, natural mascara I’d recommend this one from Lauren Brooke. I can hardly tell that I’ve applied it.

I often struggle with smudging. Even my waterproof mascara smudges a bit sometimes. When I first tried this mascara I was using coconut oil as a moisturizer. Do NOT use an oil moisturizer with this mascara. You may be mistaken for a raccoon. Using cream moisturizers I have far less smudging with this mascara.

If you don’t struggle with smudging and you prefer a natural effect, this mascara would be great for you!

These pressed eyeshadow duos have a wonderful silky texture. They blend very well and have pretty decent pigmentation.

The shades Smokey Plum, and Sweet Pea aren’t exactly my speed but there are tons of other color combinations available on Lauren Brooke’s website for any skin tone or color preference!

I had some creasing pretty quickly after applying so I would recommend using a primer with this.

I’m not much of an eyeliner wearer. I physically struggle with applying it. Normally, my eyelids will end up looking about as neat and “on fleak” as a two-year old’s coloring book. I did, however, give this eyeliner a shot. It is very creamy and easy to apply. For a subtle look, just lightly lining my upper lashes with this brown liner gave me a slightly different look than I normally get with just mascara. It’s nice for a little change every now and again.

Since I don’t use eyeliners very often, I decided to try this as an eyebrow pencil. Even though I have dirty blonde brows, and the pencil is dark brown, it works! It needs to be applied very, very gently, but it blends like a dream.

Out of these three products, I would repurchase the eyeliner (as a brow pencil), and the eyeshadow duo in other colors (as long as I find a non-toxic primer… any recommendations?). The mascara wasn’t as dramatic and long lasting as I’d like.

What are your favorite Lauren Brooke products? Please share in the comments!

Note: Thank you so much to Chris at Lauren Brooke for being so kind and generous. I really enjoyed reviewing these eye products!

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Satin Eyeshadow | Review

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Satin Eyeshadow | Review

In the past, I have enjoyed several items from 100% Pure. They are a highly rated non-toxic, natural, organic and cruelty-free cosmetic brand. I decided to broaden my knowledge of 100% Pure’s products with a Fruit Pigmented Satin Eyeshadow. The color I chose is Turks & Caicos (it is no longer available on 100% Pure’s website, but it is currently available on their Amazon page).

I really like the formula. It is somewhere between a cream and a powder (similar to but not quite the same as ColourPop Shadows) and feels very silky. The shade Turks & Caicos is a peachy, nude with micro glitter in it for some sparkle. It works well to brighten up the inner corners of the eyes, to add a little shimmer to the brow bone and even to the cheek bone. I found the micro glitter flecks to be almost a bit too chunky, but not enough to keep me from wearing this pretty shadow.

All in all, I really like this eyeshadow and would love to try it in other shades, as well as other similar products made my 100% Pure!

What is your favorite 100% Pure product? Please leave a comment telling me!

BeautyCon Bff Box Winter 2015-16

BeautyCon Bff Box Winter 2015-16

The Beauty Con BFF Box is a $30 quarterly subscription service. You receive between 10 and 15 girly products like makeup and cute accessories once a season.

This winter box was created by the lovely Bethany Mota! She is a Beauty/Fashion/DIY guru on YouTube.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama in Blackest Black. I was a little bit let down when I tried this. It did not make my lashes as huge as it did for Gigi Hadid’s in the commercial. This mascara is okay, but it is not my favorite.

Soap and Glory Hand Food Mini This hand cream moisturizes pretty well without feeling heavy or sticky, but I do not like the smell. I know a lot of people like the classic Soap and Glory scent but I just can’t get on board with it. This smells really similar to a cheap perfume I kept in my school bag in high school. I used that perfume under my nose to mask the smell when we dissected pigs in Biology class. So this scent and anything like it makes me a bit queasy.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Flirtation. I Like the matte lip trend but it can be a bit uncomfortable. These are creamy feeling but matte. As the lipstick wears off you are left with a beautiful stain. I really like how comfortable these are and the effect they give! I can’t wait to try more colors!

ColourPop Highlighter in Stole the Show. I love all of ColourPop’s products and this is another good one! This is a pretty champagne color with flecks of pink, gold and silver.

Garnier Full & Plush Root Amp Root Lifting Spray Mousse. I don’t really use styling products that often but I am intrigued by the idea of this.

Murad Hydrating Toner. I really like the idea of this: Hydrating and in a spray bottle. I have not seen where it has made a difference with my skin, though.

Essie Nail Polish in Marshmallow. I am not a fan. I like the look of the polish in the bottle but when you try to apply it, it comes out so streaky.

They were nice enough to include two gift cards. One for Nike and one for Aeropostale. Bethany has a range of clothing at Aero!

Bethany also loves Disney so she included Disney theme flash tattoos and Minnie Mouse ears headband. I’m not really sure when the mouse ears will come in handy but the flash tattoos will be fun to save for the summer.

She has also mentioned her love for notebooks. She is always making note of any possible video or project ideas in notebooks.

What was your favorite item out of this winter’s box? Mine was the liquid lipstick!

Ipsy “All Eyes On You” January 2016 Glam Bag

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service. You receive approximately five products ranging from drugstore to high-end prices in a cute makeup bag for $10 each month.

MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast is a very pretty neutral bronzy color. It has amazing pigmentation and blends pretty well.

theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner in the color Scott B. Bordeaux. This eyeliner has a very creamy formula that would work well to be smudged out. This color is a deep purple with a little bit of a brown tint to it.

Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Satin Lipstick in Vengeance is very comfortable to wear. It feels hydrating and it also leaves behind a bit of a stain once it wears away. The color is very strange. On me, it looks nothing like it does in the bullet or on the DLS website. It looks like a gentle Barbie pink with a magenta twist.

Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme is very comfortable and hydrating, and it smells amazing!

Hey Honey Skincare Open Your Eyes Eye Contour Lifting Fluid is an interesting product. I haven’t tested it out more than once, but when I did, I didn’t notice much of a difference from it. But I am excited to continue playing with it to see how it works. I like the idea of it.

This bag was good. Not my favorite, but still pretty good. I highly recommend trying out Ipsy if you haven’t already! If you do receive it, what was your favorite item out of your bag? I really love the lip balm! Especially this time of year!

Ipsy December 2015 Glam Bag

Ipsy December 2015 Glam Bag

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service. You get about 5 beauty products in a cute makeup bag each month for only $10. There is a wide range of brands from drugstore price to higher end. I look forward to seeing my glam bag in the mail each month!

Pacifica Power Of Love Natural Lipstick in the shade “Nudie Red”. The color is very pretty; a nude pink-brown. It blends into my lips very well and its semi-matte finish is comfortable to wear. The one thing that puts me off is the smell. It has an aged, chemically scent to it.

BeFine Exfoliating Cleanser (with Brown Sugar) is really nice! The sugar in it is abrasive to start, but quickly dissolves and leaves you with a creamy lather. I really like that the sugar exfoliants do dissolve and that this product is biodegradable! It also smells amazing! Like a really sweet, nutty coffee creamer.

Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer. When I first applied this I didn’t think it was anything special. It felt exactly the same as any other eye primer I have used. It didn’t make the shadow color pop much. But at the end of the day when I looked close at my lids, there was hardly one little crease. With other primers or no primer at all, I get a gross line of clumped up eyeshadow in my crease after only a few hours. This primer held my shadow in place all day!

RickyCare by Ricky’s NYC Classic 3D Blender. I love makeup sponges and am always happy to try another! This one did not disappoint! It applies my makeup wonderfully. The sponge its self is so soft! It feels like a squishy ball of velvet.

FORMULA X Nail Polish in Revved Up is the prettiest rose gold color! Formula X has great quality nail polish and amazing colors! This one could have gotten by with just one coat, but as you can see, the second coat made a bit brighter.

I am really happy with the contents of this bag! I am going to enjoy every single one of these items for a long time! My favorite is the nail polish, of course. What was your favorite from your December bag? Please tell me in the comments.

BeautyCon BFF Fall Essentials Box

BeautyCon BFF Fall Essentials Box

This is my first BeautyCon BFF box. I decided to take advantage of their Black Friday deal and got a few dollars off if I try it for a year. So far, I am pretty happy I did!

From what I gather, you get about 15 (give or take) girly items for just under $30 once a season (4 times a year). Each box is supposed to be worth over $100.

I really like the diversity of products in this box like accessories, makeup, and tech things.

BeautyCon Boho Scarf

BeautyCon Mega Statement Necklace

BeautyCon Stacked Ring Set

BeautyCon Glam Groves Headphones

Altoids Peppermint Mints

E.L.F. Small Stipple Brush I have two of  these already and love them! I am so excited to have a third because I use them for everything, all of the time.

ColourPop Lippie Pencil in the color LBB. I love ColourPop and I am so excited to try this beautiful dark berry shade!

I also got the matching Lippie Stix too!

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss. I received the color “Taupe With Me”. It smells fruity. I love the regular Baby Lips Balms and this feels really similar. It feels moisturizing and glossy and only a little thicker than the original balm version. There are also tons of beautiful colors!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara I really like this! It quickly lengthens my lashes. It doesn’t do a lot for volume but if you are looking for a lot of length, this is a good one!

SkinFix Hand Repair Cream This is thick and hydrating but absorbs quickly.

Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush I love Real Techniques and I already own this one. It never hurts to have a backup!

Pop Beauty Kajal Pen in the color Inky Purple. I’m not much of an eyeliner person but this is very pretty and blends really well.

Conair ColorGripz Mini Brush

BeautyCon Painted Flowers Pouch

Overall this bag is a win! I definitely recommend trying out this subscription.

My favorite things in this box are the E.L.F brush and the ColourPop lippies. What were your favorites?

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Candy Glam Palette | Review

I have been wanting to try some of Tanya’s Products for ages! Unfortunately, the ones that I am most interested in, like the nail polishes, can’t be shipped to the U.S from the UK.

When I saw that she released this palette as part of her Christmas collection, I thought it would be a great way to try out a couple of different products at once. I was right! It is great!

This palette is so beautiful! It has great colors that can easily be used to make many lovely looks for holiday parties.

The quality is amazing! I can’t believe this is a drugstore product. The shadows, blush, and bronzer are all so pigmented, buttery and blendable. The lip gloss is very comfortable and it feels moisturizing as well.

Unfortunately, this is limited edition, but parts of this palette can be found on Tanya’s corner of feelunique.com. Things are always coming and going from stock on the feel unique website.

Have you tried any of Tanya’s products? What is your favorite?
