Juice Organics Brightening Shampoo and Conditioner | Review

Juice Organics Brightening Shampoo and Conditioner | Review

Another installment in my journey to detoxify my lifestyle…

In the past, I have tried a few shampoos and conditioners from the natural section in Wegmans. As I am learning more about ingredients that are used to make our personal care products, I am finding that those products that I tried may not have been as clean as I thought or am now looking for. I also didn’t like the results I got from those products. To me, they felt weak and thin.

Juice Organics “Brightening Shampoo & Conditioner” Is the cleanest set I’ve tried, and I am really happy with it!  The majority of the ingredients are certified organic. The few nonorganic ingredients have good ratings on EWG’s Skin Deep database. The Shampoo and Conditioner score a rating of two each on the Skin Deep database.

The two products smell delicious as well! I have become quite sensitive to synthetic fragrances. It has been a nice change of pace to have something with a real fragrance that I enjoy rather than the artificial scents that make me feel sick.

When using a shampoo I don’t feel like it is cleaning unless there are suds. Juice Organics Brightening Shampoo creates all of the suds I could need. It also keeps my hair clean. I prefer to wash my hair every other day and with this set, my roots stay clean for those two days without the need for a dry shampoo.

Juice Organics Brightening Conditioner is the thickest, creamiest conditioner I’ve ever used. That makes me very happy! My hair is always knotty and I get split ends easily. This moisturizing conditioner works the knots out of my hair with ease and it keeps my hair feeling soft and silky! If one wishes, it can be left in for a few minutes to be used as a hydrating mask.

The shampoo and conditioner are also meant to be interchangeable. If you have really fine hair that is easily weighed down you can use the conditioner fist, then the shampoo to wash out the weight. Personally, I prefer using the duo in the regular order.

The bottles are HUGE! A couple of ounces larger than a normal bottle of shampoo or conditioner.

I left these in the shower for my family to try. It went over with great success!

I also gave a couple of sample packets a try. They both smelled amazing! But I didn’t care for how they made my hair feel. The Volumizing Shampoo caused my hair be more prone to knots than it is on a regular day. They conditioner did not help to remove those knots. The Repairing shampoo and conditioner didn’t do a whole lot better at dealing with my knots. I also found that my roots became oily quite quickly.

I am very happy with the Brightening shampoo and conditioner! I would repurchase and I recommend trying it out!

Have you tried anything from Juice Organics? What is your favorite?

What is your favorite non-toxic hair product?

Please tell me in the comments!

BeautyCon Bff Box Winter 2015-16

BeautyCon Bff Box Winter 2015-16

The Beauty Con BFF Box is a $30 quarterly subscription service. You receive between 10 and 15 girly products like makeup and cute accessories once a season.

This winter box was created by the lovely Bethany Mota! She is a Beauty/Fashion/DIY guru on YouTube.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama in Blackest Black. I was a little bit let down when I tried this. It did not make my lashes as huge as it did for Gigi Hadid’s in the commercial. This mascara is okay, but it is not my favorite.

Soap and Glory Hand Food Mini This hand cream moisturizes pretty well without feeling heavy or sticky, but I do not like the smell. I know a lot of people like the classic Soap and Glory scent but I just can’t get on board with it. This smells really similar to a cheap perfume I kept in my school bag in high school. I used that perfume under my nose to mask the smell when we dissected pigs in Biology class. So this scent and anything like it makes me a bit queasy.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Flirtation. I Like the matte lip trend but it can be a bit uncomfortable. These are creamy feeling but matte. As the lipstick wears off you are left with a beautiful stain. I really like how comfortable these are and the effect they give! I can’t wait to try more colors!

ColourPop Highlighter in Stole the Show. I love all of ColourPop’s products and this is another good one! This is a pretty champagne color with flecks of pink, gold and silver.

Garnier Full & Plush Root Amp Root Lifting Spray Mousse. I don’t really use styling products that often but I am intrigued by the idea of this.

Murad Hydrating Toner. I really like the idea of this: Hydrating and in a spray bottle. I have not seen where it has made a difference with my skin, though.

Essie Nail Polish in Marshmallow. I am not a fan. I like the look of the polish in the bottle but when you try to apply it, it comes out so streaky.

They were nice enough to include two gift cards. One for Nike and one for Aeropostale. Bethany has a range of clothing at Aero!

Bethany also loves Disney so she included Disney theme flash tattoos and Minnie Mouse ears headband. I’m not really sure when the mouse ears will come in handy but the flash tattoos will be fun to save for the summer.

She has also mentioned her love for notebooks. She is always making note of any possible video or project ideas in notebooks.

What was your favorite item out of this winter’s box? Mine was the liquid lipstick!

Walmart Beauty Box Winter 2015

Walmart Beauty Box Winter 2015

The Walmart Beauty Box is a great way to sample drugstore products for only $5 once a season (4 times a year). In each box, you get a good number of deluxe sample products and a good number of foil sample products along with several coupons.

Dial 7 Day Moisturizing Lotion. (I could not find this on Walmart’s website.) This isn’t a bad lotion. It moisturizes pretty well and smells nice; peachy, floral and summery.

Pure Silk Moisturizing Shave Cream For Women Raspberry Mist. I’m personally not a fan of shaving creams. I prefer oils. But this stuff is alright. It smells really nice!

NSPA Exotically Creamy Coconut Rich Body Butter. This smells exactly like coconut. It is really thick. I prefer this for my feet. I used it on my legs and it left a sticky, waxy feeling.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser. I received this in a previous Walmart box and wasn’t blown away by it. It’s far too chemically smelling to be “healthy” in my opinion.

Goody SlideProof Hair Ties. These work really well at staying in place!

Ken Paves You Are Beautiful Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. I received these in a previous Walmart box too. As much as I like the idea of these with the essential oils, I don’t like the actual products. They smell pretty strange and I don’t care for the way they feel in my hair.

Pantene Pro-V Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray. I don’t use hairspray like this very often so I think I will be passing this along to someone who will get better use out of it.

What did you get in your winter Walmart box? What was your favorite item? I really like the hair ties and the coconut body butter!

Ipsy November 2015 “Beauty Blast” | Unboxing/Review

Ipsy November 2015 “Beauty Blast” | Unboxing/Review

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service. For $10 a month you receive about 5 full size or deluxe sample size beauty products. Ipsy works with a great variety of brands so you receive products from drugstore companies as well as mid to high-end  companies. I have been subscribed to Ipsy for over a year and a half and I love it! I would recommend it to any beauty lover, beginner or advanced!

Novel Haircare “Brazilian Keratin Deep Conditioning Treatment” is a great 3-minute hair mask! I used it the other day in the shower and my hair felt pretty soft afterward. It smells a lot like a man’s cologne. I am excited to continue to use this! I am always looking for something that will help my hair become more healthy and grow faster.

Smashbox Cosmetics “Full Exposure” Mascara  I’m not blown away by this. It’s a great mascara but $20 for this mascara gives me the same effect a $5 to$10 dollar one does.

Have you had better luck with it?

Jelly Pong Pong “Liquid Gossamer” This is a very pretty liquid highlight. It has a rose gold, bronzy color staring out of the tube. When blended out on my hand it looks like it has chunky glitter in it. But when I put it on my cheek bones it had a subtle and pretty glow to it!

INSPR Beauty Eye Shadow in the shade “Carnival”. I can not find this specific color on the website, but it has a great consistency! It’s buttery, very blendable and has great pigmentation!

tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon in the color “Chili Red”. That is the perfect name for it! It’s such a bright, vibrant red. It could easily be worn year round. This lip crayon has an amazing texture! It’s matte, but not in a drying way. It is really comfortable and long-lasting. That swatch in the picture took two or three days to completely come off! ( Yes, I showered each day.)

I really love the bag this month and I am pretty happy with the makeup I got in it too. What did you get this month? What was your favorite product? Please tell me in the comments!

Walmart Beauty Box Fall 2015 |Unboxing/Review

Walmart Beauty Box Fall 2015 |Unboxing/Review

The Walmart Beauty Box is a great way to discover new “drugstore” products! You get a good selection in each box. I feel like each time, I get a bit more than the last. The testers come in different sizes, from foil packets up to some full-size products! This box comes seasonally (4X a year). They advertise it as being free, but you have to pay shipping, which is only $5. I think that is a pretty great deal!

NIVEA Extended Moisture Body Lotion: I received a Nivea lotion similar to this one in the last box and I liked it. It was a little perfumy, but it hydrated pretty well. I have similar expectations for this sample.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask: I have used a sample of this before and I liked it. I love charcoal masks, so I am really excited to try this again! I remember the “self-heating” part was surprisingly hot and kind of tingly.

Crest 3D White Brilliance Daily Cleansing Toothpaste and Whitening Gel System: This is intriguing! This might actually work if you are really diligent about it. I personally didn’t care for the taste or texture of either paste and I think it is a really tedious process, but it might work for some people.

Jargons Wet Skin Moisturizer: I wasn’t overly impressed by this. To start, I needed to use both samples to cover my entire body. My bottom half smelled like summery shampoo and my top half smelled like tropical laundry detergent. The scents were a little too sicky sweet and chemically for me. It was okay  at moisturizing my skin. Not great, just okay. However, it did not leave a sticky feeling afterward like the Nivea one that I received a box or two ago.

Schick Hydro Silk Disposables Razor: I enjoyed trying out this razor. I really like the shape of the handle. It fits nicely into your hand. I am not yet sure if the blade is any better than the Venus ones I have been using for years, but I certainly don’t think it is any worse.

L’oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion, Medium Natural Tan: I don’t really use self-tanners very often. This time of year I don’t really see the point. I live in upstate New York and it’s starting to get pretty chilly, so I won’t be showing off a whole lot of pale skin. I have no desire what so ever to repurchase this self-tanner ever! It smells terrible… like cheap, rancid and extra powerful men’s cologne. It has chunky glitter pieces in it that I think are just unnecessary.

Dove Advanced Care Beauty Finish Anti-Perspirant Deodorant: Dove is a good brand. I like them! But I don’t use this kind of deodorant anymore. I have switched over to a natural kind that does not have all the chemicals or metals in it. This does smell nice, though… kind of like sweet shampoo. I think I will be passing this along to someone who can get good use out of it.

Aussie Mega Flexible Hold Hair Spray: I don’t use styling products in my hair very often.  I don’t think I would ever use this one, though. The smell really bothers me. It is like old, sour candy and baby powder, and it is really potent.

ACT Advanced Care Plaque Guard Clean Mint Antigingivitis/Antiplaque Mouthwash: This has a gentle minty flavor. I like that a lot more than the stronger ones that can make your eyes water! This is also supposed to be alcohol-free. I think that removes some of the burn. Generally, I am pretty careful about my toothpaste’s and mouthwash’s ingredients. I stay away from all kinds of sugars and these type of things have all kinds of ingredients that are derived from sugar. This one has a couple different kinds of sugar in there, but not as much as I have seen in others.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick: I received this exact same lipstick in my last Walmart Beauty Box. I wish they had some kind of customization system, similar to what Ipsy does. This is a very pretty, bright red lipstick. It is very creamy and moisturizing, and it smells fruity.

All in all, I am not overly impressed with the contents of this box. I am however impressed with a number of products!

What did you get in your box this time around? Tell me in the comments!

Ipsy “Prep School” August 2015

Ipsy “Prep School” August 2015

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service where you receive about 5 deluxe or full-size beauty samples. It is an amazing way to try out new beauty products without spending a fortune. It is just $10 a month. I have been subscribed to Ipsy for almost a year and a half now and I love it! I have no desire to cancel anytime soon! I definitely recommend this to any beauty lover! Beginner or pro.

La Fresh Group “Good Night.” Night Cream. This is light weight but very moisturizing! It’s comfortable to wear, not sticky at all. It actually feels really silky and healthy on the skin. The one thing I don’t like about it is the scent. I think it is supposed to be unscented, but to me, it smells like cucumbers that have been left out on a really hot, muggy day and are starting to go bad. Yum! Right? The smell does dissipate quickly.

I could not link this product in. The Skone website does not seem to be working properly. This is a liner for both the lips and the eyes. That is a cool idea but it also makes me a little uncomfortable crossing germs back and forth like that. I’m sure sharpening it between uses would help but I’m still a little unsure about it. This color (Wine) is really pretty on the lips! The formula is very nice as well! I am curious about how this berry color would look with my brown eyes.

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng and Biotin Volumizing Blow Dry Spray. I haven’t given this a proper go yet. I’m not a fan of putting extra things other than leave in conditioner in my hair or applying heat to it. It does smell really nice: citrusy and zesty. The ginseng is really intriguing to me!

noyah Natural Lipstick in “Desert Rose” is the perfect “your lips but better” pink-nude for my fair skin tone! I have been looking for a shade like this for a long time! It is creamy and not drying to the lips at all. The packaging says it is a semi-matte finish, but it seems to me that it is more of a satin finish.

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “Elegantly Wasted”. I love this color! I don’t think I have anything quite like it in my collection. I do have a few light purples like it but this has a unique dusty, gray tint to it. It is a two, maybe three coater and it drys fairly quickly.

I am really excited about what I received this month! How different is your bag from mine? What is your favorite thing that you got?  I think my favorite is the nail polish.

Walmart Beauty Box Summer 2015 Unboxing

Walmart Beauty Box Summer 2015 Unboxing

The Walmart Beauty Box is a $5 beauty subscription service. They advertise it as being free but you do have to pay a five dollar shipping fee. It ships seasonally (4X a year) instead of every month. In my opinion, that is a great deal to discover and try out new, affordable beauty products! I am really impressed with the amount of items I received in this box. It seems to be almost twice as much as what normally comes.

Ken Paves You Are Beautiful Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner is more natural. It is made with essential oils and is sulfate and paraben free. I always love trying more natural products and I have recently jumped on the essential oil bandwagon so I was really excited to try this. I am sad to say that I didn’t love it. I hate foil samples, to begin with. You only get one or two uses out of them and that is never enough to know if you like something. But I didn’t care for the scent. I also slept with an oil mask in my hair the night before and it was not washed out completely with these. My hair still felt pretty gross and oily after getting out of the shower.

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Complete Care Anti-Dandruff Shampoo: I have used shampoo from this brand before and have liked it. As predicted, I enjoyed this as well. And It is quite inexpensive!

John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray: I don’t really care for the feeling of any kind of product that provides and type of hold in my hair. It just feels really sticky and dirty and gross to me, so I am avoiding this one… But it does smell really nice! … Like coconuts and the beach!

Jargons Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer, Medium to Tan : I have used this before (not medium to tan. I am fair so I bought the light to medium) and liked it well enough. If you are not careful it can turn your skin pretty orange. One section of the 3-day foil packets was only enough for my legs and half an arm (I am a small human: 5’1 and 110 Ibs).

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser. I’m not a fan of this stuff. It is really perfumey and I have started to notice that heavily perfumed things bother my skin a bit. This claims to not over-dry the skin… My skin felt over-dried after using it. It doesn’t really seem to do anything else that it claims to either.

NIVEA Soft Moisturizing Creme It smells like a lotion. It looks like a lotion. It feels like a lotion. So it must be…    It works well and is light weight. It might be a little too fragrant for some. The scent is a mix between baby wipes and floral perfume. I don’t feel like this product is life changing but it’s nice.

Aveeno Active Naturals Protect + Hydrate Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 30 This is light weight and absorbs quickly. It has a bit more fragrance than a regular sunscreen. It smells floral mixed with a bit of good, old fashion sunscreen scent.

Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara Regular, Black If you are looking for big, long, full lashes this is defiantly not for you. But if you are looking for soft extra natural lashes this one could work for you. I could hardly see a difference in my lashes after I applied this.

One Direction You & I Eau de Parfum It smells exactly how it is described… Fruity, floral and sweet. Lovely for the summer time.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick I received the color “HD Gladiolus”. It is a really pretty bright red. It can be applied to be fully opaque or dab it on for a sheer wash of color. It is also very creamy and moisturizing and smells like candy!

Even though I didn’t love a lot of the things that came this time around I am really happy I was able to try the products and for only $5! I think it’s a pretty great deal!

What did you get in your Beauty Box this quarter? Have you ever used any products that I received? How did you like them? Please Share in the comments!

Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2015 | Unboxing/Review

Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2015 | Unboxing/Review

The Walmart Beauty Box is a seasonal (4 times a year) subscription box of drugstore brand samples. In each box, you get 3 or 4 deluxe sample size products, a couple foil samples and a handful of coupons. The subscription is “free” but you do pay $5.00 for shipping. If this is something you would like to sign up for here is where you can do it!

Maybelline New York Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation  My skin is too dry to test this out right now but I have been really curious about this and I am excited to test it out!

NIVEA Nourishing In-Shower Body Lotion  I have been really interested in trying this. When I used this there wasn’t enough product in the packet to cover my entire body ( I am small, 5’1 and 110 pounds) This claims to be long lasting and not sticky. Neither of those things was true. My skin felt sticky for several hours after I used it and I didn’t notice any difference in how soft or moisturized my skin felt.

Lady Gaga Fame Eau de Parfum Natural Spray, 0.5 fl oz (affiliate) This is alright. It has a warm, spicy, vanilla scent. Very Lady Gaga like!

Schwarzkopf essence ULTIME Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo  Eh. This isn’t bad but I don’t love it. The shampoo doesn’t lather and bubble as much as I think shampoo should. The conditioner doesn’t really feel as creamy and moisturizing as I would like. It also has a weird scent to it: a mix of wet paint and Hollister.

Dove Go Fresh Revitalize Body Wash  I have always liked Dove body wash. This did not disappoint. It is nice and creamy and smells good too!

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes  I am really excited to try these! I have recently started using Simple’s Micellar Water and am loving it! So I have high expectations for this guy.
Overall I am not overly excited about this box but I am not disappointed either. For $5.00 4 times a year and the chance to discover something new, I think it is well worth it! If you got a box this spring leave a comment telling me what you liked the most in it!

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

I have always had trouble growing my hair out and I am willing to try just about anything, So I gave this hair growth treatment a shot. While researching it I found that it is a real hit or miss type of product. It works great for some people and for others it doesn’t do a thing. My experience is leaning more towards the unsuccessful side.
I used this almost every day in the shower and really hated the fact that I had to stay in there for an extra five minutes while it sat in my hair. It is like a thicker conditioner and its has a chemical scent to it. I did not like the scent. Some people say it makes their hair feel thicker or softer but I didn’t notice any difference really. The price wasn’t too bad for just the one time purchase but I went through the tub in two weeks so I couldn’t really justify buying it again and again. Especially since I didn’t really care for it and could see that it was not working very well.
Lots of people have had success using this treatment so it could work for you.

If you would like, you can check it out here: Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

If you have used this please share in the comments what you thought of it!

Olay Fresh Effects “Everything Off” Makeup Wipes
I have tried a few things from this line and I liked most of them so I am excited to try this. This is not a full sized product. This only has 7 wipes in the pack; perfect for travel of the car or purse. The full size has 25 wipes and costs $4. Purchase

Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs “Maple Kiss”
This is a brownish nude color, really moisturizing and it has pretty good pigmentation. I don’t really care for the taste and smell. It’s kind of like a chemically floral scent. This is full sized and costs $5.50. So that right there paid for the box! Purchase

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream

I have never heard of anything like this and I am a little nervous to try it. The information on the back of the bottle says it is supposed to be a moisturizer with extra fancy technology that firms and perfects all skin types. It smells nice, though; sort of sweet and like a perfume. This sample size is 1 oz and the full size is 7.5 oz. It costs $12. Purchase

L’oreal Oleo Therapy Oil Infused Shampoo and Conditioner.
I have used this once and so far I really like it. The shampoo was really thick and the conditioner was really thin. That made me a little nervous at first but my hair felt really nice after my shower. It was really soft and felt healthy. My natural waves stuck around for a lot longer as well. I am pretty sure I will be buying the full-size bottles soon! The sample sizes are 2 oz and the full-size bottles are 8.5 oz. Each is $6.

Conditioner

There were also a couple foil samples with coupons attached:
Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder and Nivea Cocoa Butter Body Lotion.

I really liked this box and I am excited for the next one! If you would like to sign up click here.

Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Try Me, Love Me Set

Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Try Me, Love Me Set

My hair has never been very fast at the whole growing thing and I have always wanted long locks! (Who doesn’t at some point?) So I am always willing to try just about anything I come across that might speed up the hair growing process. I saw this little set, it was pretty inexpensive so I decided to give it a shot. The Bottles were smaller than I expected. (I guess you could describe them as a smaller deluxe sample size.) I have thin, fine, bra strap length hair so it took me almost a week to go through the shampoo and conditioner (I wash my hair almost every day) and almost a month to get through the spray. I didn’t feel like it was enough time for me to get a proper feel for how well the shampoo and conditioner did their advertised job. But I didn’t like the way it felt or smelled. The shampoo felt weak and filmy in my hair. I like sudsy shampoos that feel like it is really cleaning. And the same thing goes for the conditioner. I like a creamy conditioner that feels moisturizing and this just felt like I was putting slippery water in my hair. It smelled like those gross little cinnamon candies that you put on your ice-cream. I loathed them as a kid, so the smell triggering that memory didn’t go over too well. The leave in conditioner spray was okay I guess but it wasn’t really anything special to write home about. So, unfortunately, I would have to say that I would not buy any of these again. If anyone has had better luck with these please share your thoughts in the comments! And if you want to try this out for yourself here are some links: I bought this at Ulta, but they don’t sell the set anymore. You can but them individually here. I did find the travel size set here and the full-size set here.
