Moom “Organic Hair Removal Kit With Cucumber For Bikini And Brazilian” | Review

Moom “Organic Hair Removal Kit With Cucumber For Bikini And Brazilian” | Review

Waxing is a great way to keep your body hair free for a longer period of time than just shaving, but without committing to permanent hair removal. Of course, as many of you know, it’s always wise to choose products that are made without toxic ingredients that could harm us. Moom creates beautiful hair removal products that are made out of only a couple of organic ingredients. A relatively recent addition to their store is this hair removal kit made with cucumber, for the sensitive bikini region.

Because the bikini area is so delicate, the cucumber was added to the formula to calm the skin. Agar-agar, green tea, and lemon juice also offer nourishment to your sensitive skin.

My favorite thing about Moom “waxes” is they are water soluble. If you mess up during application, you can just rinse the goop off and start over.

Included in this kit are reusable organic cotton strips and wooden applicators, and a 3oz pot of hair remover

What is your favorite hair removal method? I’d love for you to share in the comments!

Mother Dirt Probiotic Skin and Hair Care | Review

Mother Dirt Probiotic Skin and Hair Care | Review

Probiotics are becoming more and more popular in diet and health practices. Recently brands have been adding probiotics to their beauty products. Mother Dirt was created with the intent of keeping your external microbiome happy and healthy. There are four products available for skin and hair care: a probiotic mist, a shampoo, a foam cleanser, and an oil moisturizer. They come in bottles that are TSA approved so you can easily pack it in a carry on case for a flight. Even though the packages are small, a surprising amount of product is jammed in there. Each bottle lasted a lot longer than I anticipated.

All of the products are unscented, are hypoallergenic, and score very well by the Environmental Working Group.

The shampoo is very gentle… almost too gentle. It felt great when using it but my hair became greasy quickly throughout the day. I could not skip a day of washing my hair. I missed having a (naturally) scented shampoo. Mother Dirt doesn’t sell a conditioner to go along with their shampoo. On their website, it says a lot of people didn’t need one. My rat’s nest was still in desperate needed one so I chose The Honest Co. Conditioner.

The foam cleanser can be used for the face and body. It is so gentle, yet very effective. My skin didn’t feel stripped after cleansing, but it still removed my makeup. It even did a decent job taking off waterproof mascara! But again, I missed a pretty scent.

The moisturizer had a strange texture. It didn’t feel oily or greasy. It had more of a slippery texture, almost silicone like. The packaging for this one needs some work. It leaked a lot and often the oil would splatter or squirt when I would pump it out of the bottle.

AO+ Mist is a live probiotic spray. You can mist it anywhere on your body to replenish good bacteria. This mist is perfect… not so heavy that it leaves large droplets, but not so fine that you have to spray it a thousand times before you feel anything.

All in all, I wasn’t as impressed as I’d hoped to be. Even though the mist is slightly pricier than I’d prefer, I really liked the texture so I would repurchase it. I also liked the gentle cleanser and might pick that one up again. The oil cleanser and shampoo didn’t wow me. However, I am glad I tried Mother Dirt. My eyes were opened to this trend. I look forward to seeing what the natural beauty community comes up with next using pro and prebiotics.

What are your favorite good bug supporting products? Please share with everyone in the comments!

The Honest Co. Shampoo + Body Wash & Conditioner | Review

The Honest Co. Shampoo + Body Wash & Conditioner | Review

The Honest Company is one of my favorite affordable go-to brands for personal care and home care products. I’ve gone through a few bottles of the Honest Shampoo + Body Wash and the Honest Conditioner. They both come in three beautiful scents: Sweet Orange Vanilla, Dreamy Lavender, and Apricot Kiss (Unscented has JUST been released as well). For under ten bucks a bottle, and great ingredients you really can’t go wrong.

EWG gives a rating of 1 (1 being nontoxic and 10 being toxic) to the shampoo and a rating of 2 to the conditioner.

The shampoo lathers and suds wonderfully. The conditioner is creamy and moisturizing without being heavy of leaving a residue. (It also works great for shaving!) Both working together leaves my hair clean and soft for the day. A lot of the time I struggled to get two days of clean hair from this duo. If you prefer to wash daily anyways, then that’s ok.

I love the design of the packaging. Not only are the graphics cute, but I love the pump on the bottle as well. It makes it easier to get a controlled, consistent amount out.

Do you have a favorite non-toxic hair care products? What should I try next?

Moom Organic Hair Removal | Review

Moom Organic Hair Removal | Review

I can’t be the only one getting excited about summer. I have already bought a few new swimsuits, and I have been dreaming about my paddleboard for a couple of weeks.

As summer approaches, getting beach ready is something that many of us start to think about. Fitness routines are added or improved, and skin is looked after a bit more. Smooth legs are a must for me during the summer. Many ladies prefer to wax for the longer lasting results and less maintenance.

Many waxes contain nasty chemicals and synthetics which are toxic to many parts of our bodies, as well as the planet. Parabens are endocrine disruptors and have negative effects on our hormones and reproductive systems. They can also affect one’s allergies. Many conventional waxes contain synthetic fragrances as well. They are just as costly to our organs and Earth.

Moom “Wax” is made from just a couple of organic plant based ingredients, and that’s it. No mile long list of dangerous things that you can’t pronounce, and you will be glad to know that their products are just as effective as the chemicals!

Most of Moom’s hair removers have the same main ingredient, organic cane sugar. Other plant extracts or essential oils are added for specific skin types or areas being treated. Chamomile, lavender, and cucumber have been added to some waxes for their calming effects.

MOOM Organic Hair Removal kit with Tea Tree (Classic)

This classic wax is suitable for all skin types and can be used on the whole body. It comes with wooden applicators and many fabric removal strips in different sizes. All are washable and reusable.

Ingredients:

Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Chamomile Tea, Organic Lemon Juice, And Organic Tea Tree Oil

MOOM Organic Hair Removal Face/Travel Kit

This travel kit is quite a bit smaller than the Classic, above, but it is very similar and works just as well. There is a slight alteration in the ingredients for delicate facial skin but also works wonderfully on the rest of the body. It comes with a good number of reusable removal strips and wooden applicators.

Ingredients:

Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Chamomile Tea, Organic Lemon Juice, Organic Tea Tree Oil, and Organic Aloe Vera

For me, waxing isn’t my first choice of hair removal. I find it very itchy and uncomfortable to let my hair grow to the required waxing length. But on the odd occasion when I do feel like having a spa day and breaking out a wax kit, I’m glad I have Moom’s “wax”. I think My favorite thing about their hair removers is that they are washable. If you mess up when applying the remover you can just wash it away!

What are your favorite, most effective hair removal methods? Do you prefer to do it yourself or do you treat yourself to a spa trip?

The Honest Co. Conditioning Detangler | Review

The Honest Co. Conditioning Detangler | Review

The Honest Company has many great products for home and personal care. The brand only uses ingredients that are safe for ourselves and our planet. For me, most of their products have been great hits. Very few have disappointed. This conditioning detangler lands kind of in the middle.

To start, the sweet orange vanilla scent is amazing! I love both citrus and vanilla scents, so putting them together is brilliant. The detangling power is okay. It’s not as effective as my blonde rat’s nest needs, but I do notice a difference if I don’t use it. After showering, giving my hair a few spritz with the detangler. I let it sit in my hair while I apply my body lotion and get dressed. After letting the detangler sit for a couple minutes, running my tangle teezer through my hair gets the job done. It’s not as smooth to brush through as I’d like, but it’s not nearly as knotty and painful as it would be without the detangler. I’ve found the key is to let the detangler soak in. Brushing right after spritzing the detangler is just like brushing without it.

Would I buy this again? Probably. Compared to a lot of other natural hair care products it’s pretty good value for money.

What are some safe hair products that you reach for daily?

Graydon Face + Body Travel Essentials | Review + Giveaway!

Graydon Face + Body Travel Essentials | Review + Giveaway!

Graydon Skin Care is a Canadian brand great for label readers like me. The ingredients are natural, nontoxic, cruelty-free, chemical and synthetic free, and organic whenever possible. Each product is made with luxury and pampering in mind. Both the packaging and the product inside are beautiful to use as well as display on your shelves or countertops. These face and body travel essential samples are nothing short of lovely.
<a href="https://graydonskincare.refersion.com/l/b96.74874" target="_blank"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/refersion_client/2975/creatives/03-12-15-03-40-48_4.3bannerMountain.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>

Aloe Milk Cleanser

Most of the time I prefer soapless facial cleansers like oils, creams or balms. This Aloe Milk Cleanser is a cream cleanser and makeup remover all in one. It leaves the skin feeling smooth, clean and hydrated.

Elements

This sunscreen is made from zinc rather than chemicals. Not only is your skin protected from the sun’s hot rays, Seabuckthorn oil and aloe juice help to nourish your skin as well. The formula is a slightly thick one. It works well on the body, but it’s not something I would want to wear on my face in the hot weather.

All Over Face + Body Lotion

This lotion smells of lavender and rosemary. Yum! It is very moisturizing, yet light weight. It works well as both a body lotion and a face lotion. I’ve noticed as a face lotion it has a slightly dewy finish. If I were to wear makeup over time I might use a couple extra mattifying products to keep foundation/concealer in place.

<a href="https://graydonskincare.refersion.com/l/b96.74874" target="_blank"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/refersion_client/2975/creatives/03-12-15-03-40-03_4.2bannerLavender3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>

All Over Soap + Shampoo

I decided to try this out as a shampoo. It doesn’t suds up quite as much as I’d like and it leaves almost a waxy feeling when rinsing it out, but when my hair dries it feels really clean, healthy and a bit thicker. I haven’t tried it as a body or face soap yet, but I think it is gentle enough so your skin won’t feel stripped and tight.

Hair Smoothie

This conditioner can be used as a mask, regular conditioner as well as a leave-in conditioner for dry ends. I’ve only tried it as a regular in shower conditioner. It doesn’t feel as creamy as I’d prefer but it detangles really well. After I’ve rinsed it out, my hair feels really soft and manageable.

<a href="https://graydonskincare.refersion.com/l/b96.74874" target="_blank"><img src="https://cdn.refersion.com/2975/creatives/04-07-16-09-12-39_320x50-4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>

Each of these 5 products is wonderfully made and very effective. These are ones that I would go for in full size. I would love to share how awesome this brand it with you. If you are interested, feel free to fill out the form below to enter for an opportunity to win this little sample kit of these Graydon products.

Shikai Natural Everyday Shampoo & Conditioner | Review

Shikai Natural Everyday Shampoo & Conditioner | Review

When I was little, my mom used Shikai shampoo and conditioner a lot. These bottles were a common occupant of the ledge in our shower. I’d forgotten all about it, so when I opened and smelled these two bottles, all the memories of stealing her shampoo every so often came back. I love the smell but it’s hard to describe; sort of herbally and clean.

Shikai Everyday Shampoo and Conditioner works well for just that, everyday use. I prefer to shampoo my hair every other day, rather than every day. In the long run, doing it that way make my hair feel healthier, but these two couldn’t keep my hair clean for more than a day. When using the shampoo and conditioner every day my hair felt soft and clean…for the day of course.

The EWG Skin Deep rating is okay but could be better. They both score a 4 (1 being safe, 10 being unhealthy).

Do you have any favorite Shikai Products? Please share in the comments!

MOOM Organic Eyebrow Shaping Kit | Review

MOOM Organic Eyebrow Shaping Kit | Review

I go back and forth between waxing and plucking my eyebrows. Due to my laziness I normally just pluck when I feel my brows have become a bit overgrown. But when I leave them for too long, or I need to clean up the blonde peach fuzz under my brows, MOOM Organic Eyebrow Shaping Kit has been a lifesaver.

A few years ago I picked up my first waking kit at my local Wegman’s. I really liked the silky smooth effect it gave me, but I was uncomfortable microwaving the plastic container, and I always had little bits of blue wax stuck in my eyebrows that were impossible to remove.

Moom’s Shaping Kit is made out of all organic plant-based ingredients and is washable. If you make a mistake applying, you can just wash it away and start over. To warm the “wax” you just let the tube sit in a glass of hot water for a few minutes. The wooden tools make it easy to apply. Both the fabric strips and the wooden application tools can be rinsed off and reused.

I really like how easy this kit is to use, and I love that it has an EWG rating of 1. When I need to, I plan to repurchase this to have on hand.

What are your favorite ways to manage your body hair? Or do you prefer to leave everything as is? I’d love to continue the conversation in the comments!

-Liz

Note: Thank you so much to Moom for your generosity! I really enjoyed reviewing this kit.

There are four scents available: apricot kiss, dreamy lavender, fragrance-free, and sweet orange vanilla. Fragrance-free was the scent that was included in this sample bundle.

Honest Hand Soap comes in mandarin, lavender, and lemongrass. Lavender is the scent that was included in this sample pack. It’s not my favorite lavender scent, but it still smells pretty nice. The bubbles that are created are silky and foamy, and my hands weren’t left feeling dried out.

The Shampoo + Body Wash that came in this box was sweet orange vanilla scented. It smells so good! Exactly how it sounds. The shampoo and body wash also comes in apricot kiss and dreamy lavender. This has a similar texture to the hand soap. Light and fluffy, clean but not dehydrated.

The Multi-Surface Cleaner works quite well on many surfaces (surprise surprise!) but I found that it left behind a sudsy, streaky film on mirrors. I’m not a fan of the scent. It has a hint of something like ammonia. I think I will stick with my favorite, Young Living’s Thieves Household Cleaner.

The organic healing balm can be a bit difficult to work with. In warmer weather, it can become a bit runny. The regular consistency is kind of similar to vaseline. It has a pretty nondescript scent, but that makes sense due to what it’s made of. All of the ingredients are organic oils like sunflower, olive, and coconut oils. Once it’s been worked into the skin, it is incredibly hydrating. Having a bottle on hand sounds like a good idea to me! Especially with the cold winter months that are sneaking up on us.

The Honest Company did a great job putting together this little trial package! All of the products are great and I would recommend and repurchase any of them.

Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner | Review

Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner | Review

I often get tired of using the same products over and over again so while making an iHerb order, I took a browse around their sample section. Desert Essence‘s Coconut shampoo and conditioner caught my eye.

Both of these smell INCREDIBLE! Like a tropical, coconut, summery, paradise island. Yum Yum Yum!

My hair responded quite well to them. I prefer to shampoo my hair every other day, and on the off days, my hair did not get oily or gross. The moisture-rich texture of the conditioner kept my hair reasonably manageable and smooth.

EWG has given Dessert Essence’s Coconut shampoo a score of 5. I am a bit disappointed by that. The majority of the ingredients and pretty safe and organic, but there are a couple of things that bump that number up.

The same can be said for the conditioner, although EWG has given it a score of 4.

I really enjoyed using both of these. Despite the high EWG toxicity scores, I would still repurchase these. I would also love to try other products by Desert Essence.

Babo Botanicals Smoothing Detangling Spray | Review

Babo Botanicals Smoothing Detangling Spray | Review

I have the type of hair that would knot up into a rat’s nest even if I was in a straight jacket. My hair could not survive without a good detangler.

This Smoothing Detangling Spray made by Babo Botanicals was the first natural, nontoxic detangler I decided to try. I was so excited to try this product. Babo Botanicals originated near me and who doesn’t love to support local businesses! All of their products have pretty good reviews on their website.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t as blown away as I’d hoped to be. My hair is a tangled mess 24/7 so I need some pretty strong detangler! This spray isn’t so powerful. If I let it sit in my hair for a few minutes before brushing it worked a little better, but not much. If not for my awesome Tangle Teezer, brushing would be a lot more painful.

On the positive side, Babo’s Detangling Spray smells incredible! It has a very sweet berry scent without being artificial or sicky sweet.

The ingredients are all great! On EWG’s Skin Deep Database it comes out an overall toxicity level of 1. Here is the detailed page if you are interested.

I would recommend this spray to someone who only needs a little bit of help getting a brush through their hair. Not to someone like me with a frizzy, forest head.
