Young Living Essential Rewards – May 2019

Young Living Essential Rewards – May 2019

Young Living has been one of my go-to essential oil brands for a number of years. Each month I get a box of products at a wholesale price that I have hand-picked for myself. I also earn points on what I buy and can pick out free gifts. This months order was a nice mixture of both purchased and gifted.

Essential Oils:

Grapefruit – This is for my mom. She loves Grapefruit EO as a perfume! Young Living’s meets her specific tastes.

DiGize – I always have this oil on hand! It soothes any tummy upset.

Thieves Roll-On – I decided to give this a go. We have gone through many bottles of Thieves EO so I thought it would be great to have a pre-diluted option on hand. I plan to use it on my neck at any sign of a sore throat or sniffles.

Deep Relief – Muscle rubs are a staple. This one smells sweet and soothing. It is pre-diluted, so it won’t be so irritating on your skin.

Personal Care:

Acne Treatment – This stuff seems to be helping! It reduces redness and inflammation overnight and I don’t wake up with any weird discoloration or flakiness from the cream.

Thieves AromaBright Toothpaste – This is a great, clean toothpaste!

Thieves Mouthwash – I’ve been using this mouthwash for quite a while. I love the ingredients and it leaves my mouth feeling fresh and clean.

Home Ware:

Thieves Dish Soap – This was $12 and it does not suds up very well…enough said.

Blender Bottel – I lost the little spring blender thing for my old one so I decided to grab this one for $6.

Other than the dish soap, this order has been a hit! Everything is getting used, and being loved.

What are your Young living staples? Tell me about your favorites in the comments!

YL Essential Rewards Unboxing | April 2018

YL Essential Rewards Unboxing | April 2018

Essential oils are used in my home nearly every day in one fashion or another. We use them in our skincare routines, treating unhappy tummies or aching muscles, making the air smell lovely, and even when cleaning.

I’m back today with a little unboxing of my monthly Young Living Essential Rewards Box. The Essential Rewards Box is something that I am able to personalize to my own needs each month. Ordering YL oils this way allows me to receive a decent discount on Young Living’s retail prices and also receive points to turn in for even more discounts in the future.

Three of these oils are very well used and loved here in the Fox home, but one is a new addition to try out.

Orange

This is amazing added to a diffuser. It makes the area smell so bright and fresh. I also sometimes enjoy a drop of orange EO in a glass of water. On Pinterest, there are many pins suggesting to use orange oil for teeth whitening. I’ve added a drop to my toothbrush here and there, but have not done it consistently enough to notice a difference. It does taste nice though.

Spearmint

This is another great one to diffuse. It actually pairs really well with orange in the diffuser. Once in a while, if I’m out of peppermint or DiGize I will use this to soothe a funny feeling stomach.

Lavender

I love lavender! It’s great to diffuse to add a bit of calm to a room. I use it on acne and mix it into face masks. When feeling stressed or anxious lavender is great to rub on my chest and wrists or to put on diffuser jewelry. Basically, I’m never without lavender or something that has lavender in it.

Gentle Baby

This is the new addition to my collection. I am on the hunt for a Young Living dupe for Plant Therapy’s Relax. This is my first test. No luck yet. Gentle Baby is really strong in ylang-ylang and geranium… stronger than I prefer.

I’d love for you to share in the comments what you picked out for your box this month. What are your top favorite oils? What are some interesting oils that I should try?

Thanks for stopping by!

~Liz

Young Living Essential Rewards, January ’18 | Unboxing

You’ve probably seen Young Living promoted by a few of your Facebook friends. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the brand, Young Living is a very successful essential oil company whose products are made from organic plants and processed on high-quality machines in the safest ways possible to maximize each bottle’s medicinal value. (You can learn more about their manufacturing process here.)
Each month I receive an Essential Rewards box of products that I have personally selected. I also earn points from each month’s order that allows me to get free products in the future.
This month I ordered Di-Gize and Peace & Calming II.
Di-Gize is my savior. I don’t know how I’d manage without it. I haven’t been without a bottle since I discovered it about 4 years ago. It’s the best tummy soother ever. (You can read my full review of it here.)

Di-Gize Ingredients

“Artemisia dracunculus† (Tarragon) oil, Zingiber officinale† (Ginger) root oil, Mentha piperita† (Peppermint) oil, Juniperus osteosperma† (Juniper) oil, Foeniculum vulgare† (Fennel) oil, Cymbopogon flexuosus† (Lemongrass) oil, Pimpinella anisum† (Anise) seed oil, Pogostemon cablin† (Patchouli) oil” – YL’s Website

Peace and calming II is a beautiful, unique relaxing blend. It’s great to diffuse or apply topically to calm your senses.

Peace & Calming II Ingredients

“Citrus reticulata† (Tangerine) peel oil, Citrus aurantium dulcis† (Orange) peel oil, Cananga odorata† (Ylang ylang) flower oil, Pogostemon cablin† (Patchouli) oil, Picea mariana† (Northern Lights black spruce) leaf oil, Chamomilla recutita† (Matricaria) flower oil, Vetiveria zizanoides† (Vetiver) root oil, Cistus ladaniferus† (Cistus) oil, Citrus aurantium bergamia† (Bergamot) peel oil, Cinnamomum cassia† (Cassia) leaf oil, Artemisia pallens† (Davana) flower oil” – YL’s Website

This month’s order was small and just reached the minimum spending requirement, but both products have been used many times since receiving.
What did you order in your Essential Rewards box this month?

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques “Deep Sea Masque” | Review

Finding affordable, organic skin care and makeup products is a rare thing. Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques is a rare gem in regards to price and quality.

Clay face masks are one of my favorites because you can really see where the oil and gunk are being pulled out. The Deep Sea Masque from Lauren Brooke comes as a powder to be mixed with any liquids of your choosing and is created with so many nourishing ingredients, it’s impossible to not be intrigued by it. With several kinds of clay and seaweed, as well as a few herbal extracts and peppermint oil, your skin is left clean, smooth, and refreshed.

I find this mask quite enjoyable and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mud mask. Tell me about your favorite masks in the comments below.

Lemongrass Spa Healing Elements Balm | Review

Lemongrass Spa Healing Elements Balm | Review

My mom and I recently made our first ever order from Lemongrass Spa. They are an affordable organic/natural/non-toxic skin care, hair care, and makeup brand. One thing we had to add to our cart was the Healing Elements Balm. I’ve heard many good things about it both online and from my chiropractor.

It is such a multi purpose product. You can use it anywhere on your body and it improves the health of your skin pretty quickly. With ingredients like coconut oil, apricot oil, jojoba oil, chamomile and lavender essential oils, as well as vanilla for a yummy scent, it’s no wonder that it works so well and is so loved.

Our Success Stories:

A couple of weeks ago I had a pretty deep, raw rug burn on my pinky knuckle. My nerves burned from the tip of my pinky to my elbow. I stupidly tried straight, undiluted lavender oil on my boo-boo. That was too harsh and made the burning worse. I added a touch of The Honest Co. Healing Balm and did not find any relief. Next, I gave Healing Elements a try. I dabbed a tiny scoop (it came with a little spatula for easy, less messy application) on my raw knuckle, topped it off with a band-aid and found instant relief from the pain. I carried on with that combo a couple of times a day for about a week until my knuckle scabbed over.

Mom has been using it as a night time moisturizer and we both agree that her eyes look less puffy and overall, her skin looks smoother. We have been trying to find a Vaseline replacement for her lips. This didn’t quite match up. She said it absorbed too quickly. She likes the barrier that the Vaseline provides. Do you know of any alternatives for her? Let us know in the comments.

We have been loving this and plan to keep our cupboards stocked with it at all times. It’s such a great multi purpose product that everyone should have on hand!

What are your favorites from Lemongrass Spa? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

10 Natural Ways to Combat Stress and Anxiety

10 Natural Ways to Combat Stress and Anxiety

Anxiety is something I have been struggling with on and off for most of my life. Over the past 5 or 6 years since my digestive issues have worsened, my anxiety worsened right along with it. After reading many articles, listening to many doctors, and learning how to listen to my body, I realized that my gut problems and my anxiety had weaved themselves into and endless cycle – One causing the other. With the help of several natural practitioners, virtual support from stories found online, and my family and friends’ support, I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Keep reading to learn what has helped me maintain some control over my anxiety. (I am not a medical professional. These are what I have found works for me. They may or may not work for you – Everyone is different.)

1. Apps

A good percentage of us have smartphones. Take a snoop around the app store on your mobile device and you will find a plethora of relaxation apps. A few of my favorites are:

Relax Lite: Simply guided breathing with soothing music in the background. When I get panicky I forget to breathe. This guide gives me something to focus on, other than my nerves.

CalmThis app is very popular. It has a lot of great guided meditations for balancing emotions and relaxation. There is also a work book bassed on the Calm app, with a similar concept.

AudibleSometimes, when my mind is racing at night, I put on a story that comes free with an Amazon Prime subscription.

Relax Melodies: If you enjoy noises, tones, or sounds for relaxation, this app would be great for you.

2. Deep Breathing

Deep breathing,  4 counts in and  4 counts out. Focusing on the counting and feeling the breath deep in the bottom of my lungs helps to calm me.

3. Essential Oils

I LOVE essential oils. I use them for everything. Some great single oils to use for anxiety are Lavender, Chamomile, Orange, and Ylang Ylang.

There are also a few blends that are amazing: Relax, Peace and Calming I and/or II, and Stress Away. Each of these is unique, with beautiful, calming scents. All of these oils work well applied to the skin – for stress, I like to rub them over my chest – and diffused in an essential oil diffuser (the one I’m currently using – great for smaller to medium sized spaces, not so great for larger, open spaces).

4. Yoga and Meditation

When I include a few minutes of yoga and meditation in my day I feel a whole lot better overall, both physically and mentally.

A few apps I like to use are Daily Yoga, Asana Rebel, Butterfly Yoga, and Yoga Academy.

5. Get Outside/Grounding

Getting out into nature, into the fresh air has so many benefits both emotionally and physically. Grounding or Earthing – getting skin to earth contact – in ways I don’t understand supports our overall health in so many ways: reducing stress, reducing pain and inflammation, speeding up healing, and supporting adrenal health. (wellnessmama.com has a really great article about grounding.)

“Playing” in the dirt can provide lots of beneficial probiotics. Having a healthy microbiome is the basis for a healthy body and mind.

So get out there in the sun and dirt! Breath in the fresh air, soak up the vitamin D and play in the probiotics.

6. Don’t be afraid to ask for help

Reach out to a friend or family member you can trust. Explain what you are feeling. Don’t be afraid to tell them exactly how to help you when you do have a panic attack.

Seeing a Therapisteapist can do a world of good. I really enjoyed the time I spent with mine. She provided me with many great tools to understand what was going on with my brain and how to manage it and correct it. Panic attacks don’t just come out of the blue. There is a cause. Maybe we can’t identify the reason right off the bat – and that’s okay – but with time a professional can help you understand the underlying causes of your anxiety and find a way to retrain your brain to overcome what triggers your anxiety.

7. Staying Busy

Staying occupied helps me to keep my mind off of whatever might be stressing me.

For example, I get quite anxious when we have company (I’ve made a lot of improvement on that recently) so staying busy in the kitchen or cleaning around the house in preparation for guests really helps keep my freak out to a minimum.

8. Reducing Toxicity

Detoxing can do a world of good for the body. You can start by making sure the products you use on yourself and your home are chemical free. (Sign up for my email newsletter or follow me on Bloglovin’ to get even more tips on living chemical free.)

With your Doctor’s approval remove synthetic medications. Search for natural options. A Naturopath, Functional Medicine Practitioner or Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner may be able to help with that search.

9. Check hormone and vitamin levels

I really recommend finding a Functional Medicine Practitioner in your area. I absolutely love mine. She is the best Doctor I’ve had so far (and I’ve seen a LOT of Doctors). She is dedicated, open-minded and thorough. Functional Docs have access to both sides of medicine – pharmaceutical and natural. They can also request testing from both sides of medicine. Functional Docs have access to more unique, detailed and possibly weird tests. Ask to get your hormone and vitamin levels checked. My results have been very revealing and helpful for future treatment and healing.

10. Supplements

There are many supplements that can help with stress reduction and mood balancing. (Always speak to your doctor before introducing a new treatment.)

Taking a high quality probiotic to keep your gut flora balanced will, in turn, help the rest of your body. Anxiety can be a side effect of vitamin b deficiency. I recommend finding methylated b’s in case there is an MTHFR gene mutation.

A few supplements such as Holy Basil, Gaba, and L-Theanine are very helpful with mood balancing.

So there you have it. Those are my tips and tricks for keeping a lid on my anxiety and panic attacks. I hope you find something here that could help you but remember, everyone is different. (You should always speak with your doctor before making any changes with your health.)

Do you have any tips that I didn’t include? If so, please share them in the comments!

Graydon Discovery Kit | Review + Giveaway

Graydon Discovery Kit | Review + Giveaway

Graydon, a plant powered skincare line, has many wonderful, and effective products made from natural and organic ingredients. Like many of the kits they have offered, this discovery kit is an awesome way to be introduced to the brand.

Face Food Mineral Mist

I love facial mists. They leave the skin feeling cool, and fresh, with an extra boost of moisture. Graydon’s facial mist did not disappoint. The many minerals help to calm skin allergies, kill bacteria, produce collagen and reduce inflammation. It compliments any moisturizing routine and can help to reduce an over-powdered appearance after applying makeup.

Ingredients List

Ingredients: aqua (purified water), magnesium chloride, copper chloride, silver angstrom, zinc chloride

Detox + Renew Serum

This serum has an interesting smell. Something like wild weeds, grass, and turmeric. The texture is really nice. It hydrates and sinks into the skin well without leaving behind an oily residue. With a lot of nourishing and anti-inflammatory ingredients, this is a really nice serum to use.

Ingredients List

Ingredients: meadowfoam (limnanthes alba) seed oil, oat (avena sativa kernel) oil, camelia (camellia sinensis) seed oil, blueberry (vaccinum myrtillus) seed oil, cranberry (vaccinum macrocarpon) seed oil, raspberry (rubus idaeus) seed oil, saffron stem cell (crocus sativus flower extract & cell culture extract), turmeric (curcuma longa) oil, neroli (citrus aurantium amara), vitamin e (mixed tocopherols) oil, and nothing else!
<a href="https://graydonskincare.refersion.com/l/822.81741" target="_blank"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/refersion_client/2975/creatives/12-30-15-06-38-38_728x90-1.png" alt="" border="0" /></a>

Superfood Mask + Scrub

I feeling like I now understand why Ostriches stick their heads in the sand. They must love the exfoliation! ? This mask feels a bit like I’m rubbing a beach all over my face…but in a good way. At first, I was a little surprised at how abrasive it can be, but it’s worth it.

The mask needs to be mixed with a liquid. Graydon suggests a creme cleanser or anything from your kitchen. I decided to take a little creative liberty and use a facial oil. One capsule and about 10 drops of oil mixed, scrubbed into the skin, let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes, then scrub away with a wet washcloth. Wow! I felt like I had a new face. My skin was so soft. For a couple of days after I felt like my skin looked more radiant and healthy. This is something I could easily use a couple times a week.

Ingredients List

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Zeolite (clinootilolite zeolite), White Willow Bark (salix babylonica), Matcha Green Tea (camellia sinensis), Chia Seed (salvia hispanica L), Probiotic blend, Shiitake Mushroom (lentinula edodes), Cinnamon (cinnamomum cassia presl.), Vitamin C (magnesium ascorbate), Green Coffee Bean (coffea arabica), Zinc (citrate), Aloe Vera (aloe barbadensis leaf), Licorice Root (glycyrrhiza glabra), Papaya (carica papayal.), Coconut Water (cocos nucifera l.), Activated Charcoal, Astaxanthin (from red algae), Micro Fermented Hyaluronic Acid (sodium hyaluronate), Vitamin D2, Xylitol, and nothing else!

Green Cream

It’s not really green. Maybe the smallest hint of a sage color. But the ingredients are green. With tons of green vegetables and herbs in this moisturizer, your skin gets all of the superfood benefits imaginable: detoxification, nourishment, inflammation reduction, and antioxidants.

Ingredients List

Ingredients: aqua (purified water), glyceryl stearate*, coco-caprylate/caprate*, dicaprylyl ether*, sodium olivoyl glutamate*, cetearyl alcohol*, cetyl alcohol*, stearyl alcohol*, caprylic/capric triglyceride*, aloe barbadensis (aloe) juice, brassica oleracea italica (broccoli) seed oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil, citric acid, **glyceryl caprylate, **glyceryl undecylenate, xanthan gum, chlorophyllin (chlorophyll), persea americana (avocado) oil, olea europea (olive) oil, carum petroselinum (parsley) oil, salvia sclarea (sage) oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) oil, thymus vulgaris (thyme) oil, citrus medica limonum (lemon) oil. *vegetable wax, **natural vegetable preservative

Germs Away AromaBlend

I love germ-killing essential oil blends. My favorite is Young Living’s Thieves. Graydon’s Germs Away blend appears to be a mixture of Young Living’s Thieves and Purification and then some. For me, the lemongrass was the most powerful scent.

Ingredient List

Ingredients: cinnamomum cassia (cinnamon) leaf oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, eucalyptus globulus (eucalyptus) leaf oil, pelargonium graveolens flower (geranium) oil, juniperus communis fruit (juniper) oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, citrus limon (lemon) peel oil, cymbopogon schoenanthus (lemongrass) oil, myristica fragrans (nutmeg) kernel oil, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) peel oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil.
<a href="https://graydonskincare.refersion.com/l/822.81741" target="_blank"><img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/refersion_client/2975/creatives/12-30-15-06-40-06_728x90-4.png" alt="" border="0" /></a>

I enjoyed each and every one of these products. The skincare products really made a positive impact on my skin (as long as I didn’t pick at my acne). I think my favorite item from this kit was the Mask/Scrub. Do any of these products appeal to you? If you’d like to try them, fill out the raffle form below to be entered to win this kit!

Bottega Organica Skin Care | Review

Bottega Organica Skin Care | Review

Bottega Organica is a natural, chemical free skin care brand. The ingredients go straight from their farms in Italy and Upstate New York into the bottle. They offer this wonderful little sample pack for just the cost of shipping. Included in it are an eye serum, cleansing oil, facial oil, facial moisturizer, and a hand cream.

Eye Contour Serum

The texture of this serum is very interesting as far as eye products go. It is very liquidy. I would describe it as watery rather than oily. It has a bit of a learning curve if you are used to creams. It has a faint honey-like scent and is a light brown color.

Cleansing Face Oil

This reminds me a lot of Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Acne Cleansing Oil. It has the same lemon-thyme scent and moisturizing texture. It feels and smells wonderful on my face!

Morning Face Oil

Just a couple of drops of this ginger-scented oil goes a long way. It is incredibly moisturizing and smells wonderful. I wouldn’t, however, use it under makeup. It’s a very oily oil. I enjoy using it on relaxing, no-makeup days.

Extra-Nourishing Face Formula

This oil based face cream is incredibly hydrating. It’s not something I would use under makeup. But applying this in combination with the Morning Face Oil smells wonderful. The ginger and vanilla scents go together very well!

Comfort Hand Balm

During the dry, colder months powerful hand moisturizers are always great to have on hand (ha). This hand balm is just that. It’s oil based but absorbs into the skin quickly and effectively. According to Bottega Organica’s website, this balm is supposed to be orange scented. To me, it only has a gentle olive oil scent, but it doesn’t linger.

All of these products are a liquidy formula. The eye serum is a watery consistency and the rest are oil based. I wouldn’t use any of these under makeup. For someone with oily skin, I think these will work but I’d be careful with the amount I apply. For dry skin, these oils will be loved by your skin! I have combination skin and my dry, flaky patches drink the oils right up.

Have you tried any products from Bottega Organica? What are your favorites?

-Liz

Note: Thank you to Lin at Bottega Organica for allowing me to try your wonderful products!

All Good Skin Care | Review

All Good Skin Care | Review

All Good makes wonderful, organic, and natural skin care products. Their products are high quality, effective and safe.

All Good’s Lip Balms are very buttery and hydrating. When applied, it melts right into the skin, getting to work quickly to moisturize dry lips. The two pictured are Original and Spearmint. Both are great, and there are other scents and even tints available.

Coconut Oil Skin Food is versatile and very handy. I’ve used it as a moisturizer, a carrier oil for essential oils, and even an oil cleanser. I really like the few scent options All Good has available. The two I have pictured are plain coconut as well as lemongrass. Lavender is also available. The lemongrass scent is very sweet. For comparison, it is sweeter that Young Living’s lemongrass essential oil.

Progressing through the drier, winter months my skin feels tight and dehydrated. Body lotions are a must have for this time of year. The body lotion from All Good is so creamy and moisturizing. The scents coconut, lavender, and lemongrass are all wonderful. But my favorite is the lavender. It is so sweet and flowery.

Sunscreen is always important to have on hand. This sport sunscreen is a great non-toxic choice. I am going to remember this for when the summer hits and I spend more time in the hot rays.

All Good products are just that…all good. I loved every single one that I tried. I plan to repurchase the body lotion in the lavender scent first. That was my favorite.

Are you familiar with the All Good brand? Do you have any favorites? I’d love to hear them in the comments!

-Liz

Note: Thank you, Misty, for sending me these wonderful samples! I’ve really enjoyed them.

Gift Guide For Someone With Digestive Disorders

Gift Guide For Someone With Digestive Disorders

With Christmas coming up rather quickly, I thought I’d put together a gift guide for something a bit unique, something I know a bit about; digestive disorders. More and more you hear about people with Celiac, Chrones, IBS, IBD, Leaky Gut, I could keep going. I bet you know somebody like that. If you are stumped on what gift to give them this Christmass, here are a few suggestions. These products are favorites of many in the gut healing community.

Joggers

I love wearing pants like these. I have a few fleece pairs and a few  that are a cotton blend. I love both. Most of the time I prefer cotton clothes but when you need something extra snuggly and soft to cuddle up in, baggy fleece is amazing. Walmart is a great place to get cheap, cozy PJ pants of all styles.

Sweatshirt of Sweater

Everyone loves a warm sweatshirt or sweater! Champion is one of my favorite brands for “active” wear. (Even though I’m not a sporty person.)

Slippers

Sperry Top-Sider is a brand my family has loved for ages. I can only imagine how amazing these slippers could be! Soft and furry is the way to go in the slipper department when winter hits.

Throw

As I am writing this post, it is about 3o℉ outside, and I am bundled up with this Sonoma blanket by the fireplace. Several Christmases ago we received one for each of the three of us from cousins, and we have been loving them since. (My cat is currently snoozing in one of the others.)

Body Pillow

Regardless of one’s state of health, a lot of people really love body pillows. Pregnancy pillows are so big, you can just curl up inside one massive pillow and be supported by squishy cuddliness on all sides. It sounds pretty great to me!

Essential Oils

One of the most important parts of my healing is using essential oils. They have helped me with my digestion, anxiety, cleaning and even managing my cat’s fleas!

It is important to note that there are many different levels of quality with not real regulations. I wouldn’t put a lot of trust in the cheap oils you can pick up in your local health store. I have gotten the most benefit from Young Living’s Essential oils. For a cheaper option, I enjoy a few oils from Plant Therapy as well.

Digize

I don’t know what I would do without Digize blend from Young Living. It has all of the most beneficial oils in it for gut health: peppermint, ginger, fennel, lemongrass, etc. You can read my full review about it here.

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Young-Living-3423-Thieves-milliliter/dp/B0015KUBBM/ref=as_li_ss_il?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1481309342&sr=1-3&keywords=thieves+essential+oil&refinements=p_89:Young+Living&linkCode=li3&tag=misselizabeth-20&linkId=b56ab3e5313a5455dd2bfe5117082ae6" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B0015KUBBM&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=misselizabeth-20" ></a><img src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=misselizabeth-20&l=li3&o=1&a=B0015KUBBM" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

Thieves

Thieves is another favorite. I love diffusing it. It is a blend of cinnamon, clove, lemon and eucalyptus and has a very Christmasy scent. These ingredients are also wonderful for cleaning. They are antibacterial and antifungal. It knocks out a cold at the earliest sign and it can also be rubbed on the tummy (with a carrier oil to dilute) to help with something along the lines of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). Young Living has created many personal care and housekeeping products with this Thieves blend as a base. Thieves Household Cleaner does wonders for mold problems.

Citrus Fresh

Added to a glass of water, diffused or applied topically this essential oil blend is beautiful. It tastes wonderful, smells wonderful, and also aids in detox. Lemon, orange, mandarine, grapefruit, and spearmint are blended to create this sweet oil.

Relax

Diffused or applied topically, I find great relief from this blend. It has a really strong, sweet lavender scent. It pairs well, diffused with Citrus Fresh.

Eat Dirt

Dr Axe is a great expert in gut health. His website, www.draxe.com is overflowing with articles, information, recipes, DIYs and more that are related to gut healing. His recent book is sort of a sum of what he teaches.

Gut and Psychology Syndrom (GAPS)

The “yellow book” is kind of a bible of gut healing for a lot of people. There is so much information in this book! When I was reading it, I felt like every paragraph I was thinking “wow!”, ‘no way” or “that explains it!”. I highly recommend this book!

Journal

Writing is an important part of healing for a lot of people. A beautiful journal is a great place to keep track of how your feeling, positive accomplishments, goals or even track food and symptoms.

Peppermint Tea

Tea Pig’s Peppermint Tea is sweet, minty, and soothing. It’s enjoyable in a hot mug or in a cooler glass of water.

Chamomile

Before bed, a warm cup of chamomile can help calm the mind and body. A good night’s sleep is so important for healing.

Food Processor

Having a food processor on hand is always a good thing. I love using it to chop up foods like cauliflower to make cauliflower rice.

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/VitaClay-VS7600-2C-Yogurt-Personal-Stainless/dp/B00W49YV46/ref=as_li_ss_il?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1481320689&sr=1-14-spons&keywords=vita+clay&psc=1&smid=A3AYKKZ4APZIHU&linkCode=li3&tag=misselizabeth-20&linkId=d782412cd837579c2a6ab135776ca7e9" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B00W49YV46&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=misselizabeth-20" ></a><img src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=misselizabeth-20&l=li3&o=1&a=B00W49YV46" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

Slow Cooker

Having the ability to throw some ingredients in a pot and not have to think about it for a while takes a lot of stress way. Food that is cooked well is a lot easier to digest as well. This particular slow cooker that is linked is made out of clay, without any glaze so you don’t have to worry about any metals, plastics, dyes or chemicals leaching into the food. It also has a setting for yogurt making. The beneficial bacteria from plain, organic, homemade yogurt is very important to repairing the gut and restoring health to the rest of the body.

For Curiosity

DNA Testing

There are many genetic factors that can play into digestive issues. Doing 23andMe, I learned about many genetic abnormalities that could be contributing to my health battles. I really recommend doing it. It’s actually really cool learning about the fine details of what makes you, you. You can read a bit more about my experience here.

Portland Bee Balm | Review

Portland Bee Balm | Review

It is the beginning of December. Here in New York, we have had a drop in temperature and have seen a few snow falls. Like many, when the chilly months hit, my skin gets dried out. I especially feel it in my lips. Portland Bee Balm has been a crucial part of both my morning and night time skin care routines.

Portland Bee balm has an amazing texture. It is hydrating without being greasy or slippery. After applying the lip balm my lips feel healthy all day.

I love both the unscented and the mint scented balms. The unscented has a slightly nutty smell to it, but it’s hardly noticeable. The mint smells just like my favorite peppermint tea. A lot of people won’t use lip products with mint because of the cool, tingly feeling it can cause. This mint balm isn’t like that. It has just enough peppermint essential oil in it to give a nice sweet scent, but not enough to irritate the skin.

The ingredients are so simple and clean: bee’s wax, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic extra virgin olive oil, and peppermint oil in the mint balm. All of their ingredients are local to their headquarters in the NorthWestern United States.

Not only is the product incredible, but the packaging that it comes in is beautiful! The plastic tube is wrapped in a thin piece of wood with the Portland Bee Balm logo burned into it. It feels great to hold in your hands and to apply. It’s also wonderful to look at.

I’ve loved using both of these and would repurchase in a heartbeat. If I had to choose my favorite, I would have to go with the mint. But if mint isn’t your cuppa tea (pun intended?), the unscented is beautiful as well.

What is your favorite winter lip care product? Please share in the comments!

MOOM Organic Eyebrow Shaping Kit | Review

MOOM Organic Eyebrow Shaping Kit | Review

I go back and forth between waxing and plucking my eyebrows. Due to my laziness I normally just pluck when I feel my brows have become a bit overgrown. But when I leave them for too long, or I need to clean up the blonde peach fuzz under my brows, MOOM Organic Eyebrow Shaping Kit has been a lifesaver.

A few years ago I picked up my first waking kit at my local Wegman’s. I really liked the silky smooth effect it gave me, but I was uncomfortable microwaving the plastic container, and I always had little bits of blue wax stuck in my eyebrows that were impossible to remove.

Moom’s Shaping Kit is made out of all organic plant-based ingredients and is washable. If you make a mistake applying, you can just wash it away and start over. To warm the “wax” you just let the tube sit in a glass of hot water for a few minutes. The wooden tools make it easy to apply. Both the fabric strips and the wooden application tools can be rinsed off and reused.

I really like how easy this kit is to use, and I love that it has an EWG rating of 1. When I need to, I plan to repurchase this to have on hand.

What are your favorite ways to manage your body hair? Or do you prefer to leave everything as is? I’d love to continue the conversation in the comments!

-Liz

Note: Thank you so much to Moom for your generosity! I really enjoyed reviewing this kit.
